About Us

The Sexual Health and Blood-borne Virus Program (SHBBVP) is part of the Public and Aboriginal Health Division of WA Health. SHBBVP coordinates the prevention and control of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs) in Western Australia.

The key goals of SHBBVP are to:

  • develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive state-wide policy and plans in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • improve the quality of evaluation and information systems, including data collection, analysis and dissemination
  • build the capacity of the health and non-health workforce to address STI/HIV/BBV prevention and control
  • increase access to prevention and treatment services
  • raise the profile of sexual health and BBV issues to internal and external stakeholders.
